Viola Perry Mitchell

On September, 27th 1936, Viola Marie Perry was born in Jefferson, Texas, the eldest of seven children.  She attended Jefferson High School then moved to Houston, Texas where she married Robert Earl Mitchell on March 8, 1956.   During their 40+ years of marriage, they built a family and raised seven beautiful children. 

In 1999, Viola retired from Houston Independent School District where she worked at various schools for over 20 years.  Church was a big part of the foundation of their family.  Until the day God called her home, Viola was a member of the Trinity Gardens First Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a long-time member of the Usher Board until she could no longer serve due to declining health.   

Viola was preceded in death by two of her sisters, Flora Cobb (Glynn) and Goldie Green; her two brothers, Raymond Bell and Robert Lee Bell (Julia).

Viola leaves to cherish her memories their seven children, Annie Brown; Barbara Brown (Johnny); Marilyn Donahue (Terence); Robert Mitchell Jr. (Shannon); Jacqueline Mitchell; Stephanie Gibson; Tracy Edward (Karl); two sisters, Elizabeth Givens; Mary Ann Lee (Esther, aka Uncle E.); two sister-in-laws, Juanita Compton; Betty Harris (Herbert); 19 Grandchildren; 36 Great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Viola Mitchell, 85, of Houston, Texas will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 10:30am at Trinity Garden First Baptist Church, 6610 Wileyvale Rd Houston, Texas 77028 with a visitation from 10:00am until 10:30am the same day. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Houston National Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell was born September 27, 1936 and passed away on November 09, 2021.
