For as long as anyone can remember, Vera Love’s nickname has been "Sweeter" as in sweeter than the next person.
Never has a nickname been more perfect.
Big Mama, as we called her, had a heart devoted to God and family, and she raised her children with the same core beliefs.
Vera Love was born in Lodi, Texas on August 22, 1932. She went to sleep in the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
She attended Marion County Public Schools.
Vera married Jimmy Ree Love Sr. in April of 1957. They had five children, two of whom died at birth.
Vera, who accepted Christ at an early age, was a faithful and lifelong member of Church of the Living God CWFF Temple No. 79 in Lodi, Texas until her health failed her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Castella Williams and Luther Sheppard; husband Jimmy Love Sr.; son, Jimmy Love Jr.; twin sister Era Sheppard, brother, Buford Sheppard, Mozzelle Sheppard and
Will H. Williams and granddaughter Terricitha Hines.

Her loving children, Robert (Mary) Williams of Waco, Texas; Kathy “Mae” Love of Garland, Texas; Lorraine (Jacques) Taylor of DeSoto, Texas; daughter-in-law Sharon Love of Kildare, Texas; brothers, Hulon Sheppard and Lee V. Wilson of Houston, Texas; Johnnie (Joann) Williams of Garland, Texas and Herbert (Shirley) Williams of Dallas, Texas each of whom she treated like her sons; sister-in-laws Ruby Sheppard of Kildare, Texas and Ruby (Vernon) Williams of Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law Wayne Love of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Vera touched the lives of many and will be missed greatly by those who loved and knew her.
Services for Mrs. Vera Love, 88, of Lodi, Texas will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Whitaker Memorial Cemetery in Lodi, Texas under the direction of Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.
