Sean Rice Obituary

Sean Bellamy Rice was the youngest of 8 children born to Exeree Jefferson & Edgar L. Rice III, born June 17, 1963 in Fort Worth, Texas

He departed from this life on June 16, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas at Baylor All Saints Hospital. Sean attended school in Fort Worth until the family moved to Jefferson. He attended school in Jefferson until his graduation in 1981.

After high school we went to Kilgore College where he earned an Associate degree in the field of engineering. After college he moved to Fort Worth and started working for Romeo Engineering, where he remained for many years.

Sean was diagnosed with diabetes while in Junior High School. After years of struggles related to the diabetes his kidneys failed, and he was placed on dialysis.

The hospital found a donor, and he received a kidney and pancreatic transplant. The surgery went smoothly, but while battling with circulatory issues, his kidneys failed again. He was placed back on dialysis and suffered the loss of both legs and three fingers.

In spite of his challenges, Sean never gave up, and remained active. He participated in 3 on 3 basketball, coached both of his sons little league games and coached little league for Hallmark Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member. He also ran marathons and enjoyed cycling. Sean learned to run on legs specifically designed for amputees. He called them his running legs. The Kidney Foundation donated a titanium bicycle to Sean also.
Romeo Engineering was commissioned by Arbor Lawn Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas to create a design for the floor of the church entry way. Sean and a colleague, Jim Clark, created a depiction of a cross draped in Jesus’ cloak. On the day of the unveiling, Sean was invited to be recognized and thanked by the church.

Education was important to Sean, so he went back to school and received a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering from Ohio University.

In addition to his many accomplishments, Sean authored a book, “Torrential Mist” He was a Godly man. He would say, “I put everything is his hands.” referring to God.

Sean married Kimberle Turner. From this union a son was born, Sean Bellamy Rice, Jr.
