Roosevelt Fagan was born to the parentage of Irene Cooper and Wilborn Fagan on December 7, 1939, in Marion County, TX
He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a very young age. He united with the New Hope Baptist Church which later became 1st Community Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and Trustee until his health failed.
Roosevelt married the love of his life, Alice Louise Abron, on June 22, 1957. To that union four daughters were born.
Roosevelt worked diligently to provide for his growing family. He was self-employed for many years as a logger. He also worked at Morton Thikol in Karnack, TX, Jefferson ISD and the Marion County Highway Department.
In addition to his love for his family, Roosevelt enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and visiting friends and family. Roosevelt loved helping others in need throughout the Marion and Harrison county communities. He also served as a member of the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Alice (Louise), Sister Maude Ethel, and Brother James Alfred, and his step brother James Irving.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four daughters, Carolyn (Sanford) Coverson, Beverly (Rodney) Nelson, Cynthia Fagan, Sheila (Phillip) Harvey, and one special daughter Patricia (Rev. Willie) Collins, Five grand-children,Nikki (Marcus), Teresa (Andre), Bryan, Courteney, and Alexandria, seven great grand-children, Trinity, Kennedi, Jaylin, Jaxson, AJ, Thomas, and Brylin, and one great-great-grand daughter, Alice. One brother, King (Doris) Fagan, two sisters, Rushie Randle and Mary Griggs, his stepbrother, Ray Irving, two stepsisters, Claudia (Charles), and Birdie. Four brothers in-laws, three sisters in-laws and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and loving relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Roosevelt Fagan, 84, of Jefferson, Texas, will be 11:00am Thursday, May 30, 2024 at First Community Missionary Baptist Church in Harleton, Texas, under the direction of Lewis & Walker Funeral Home of Jefferson, Texas, and burial will follow afterwards at First Community Cemetery.
Mr. Fagan was born December 7, 1939 and transitioned May 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
Mr. Fagan was 84 years old.
