Ronnie Key Mathis

Ronnie Mathis was born on January 22, 1958, to the late Otis Mathis “O.T.” and Eula Mae “Madea”Mathis. To this union one daughter and five sons were born.

Ronnie accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age and joined the St Paul United Methodist Church in Jefferson, TX.

Ronnie graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976where he played baseball and basketball. Soon after graduation Ronnie started working hard at T&N Steel Plant in Lone Star, TX from 1978 - 1983. He continued showing off his laboring skills at CPI in Marshall, TX from 1984 -1994. Shortly after work in 1994, Ronnie had an accident that slowed him down for a bit but as always if you asked, he would say “I got it. I’m alright.” His family and friends knew him as “Mr. Knit” and the man with the plan on his softball team known as “D-Force”. He loved his family, westerns, dr. pepper, LA Lakers and most of all his DALLAS COWBOYS. 

Ronnie will be extremely missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Ronnie was preceded in his transition by his father, Otis “O.T” Mathis; his mother, Eula Mae “Madea” Mathis; his brothers, Terry Mathis and Tommy “Luster” Mathis.

He leaves to cherish his memories one sister Marva “Lois” Norris (Philip Sr), two brothers Ricky Mathis (Helease) of Jefferson, TX and Gregory Mathis Sr (Alpha) of Kilgore, TX

Four Children; son Alec “Keith” Williams (Ingrid) of Houston, TX; daughter Danielle Mathis (Tony) of Marshall, TX; daughter Veronica Noel (Kyle) of Longview, TX and son Taylor Mathis of California.Two Bonus Children; bonus son Rodney Mitchell (Eddee) of Marshall, Tx and bonus daughter Onissa Mitchell-Fisher (Cameron) of Houston, TX.

11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 bonusgrandchildren; 2 bonus great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. 

Services for Ronnie Key Mathis, 66, of Jefferson, Texas, are 11:00am Saturday, July 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church, 523 N. Polk St., Jefferson, Texas, and burial will follow afterwards at Pyland Cemetery in Avinger, Tx. Visitation will be Friday July 26, 2024 from 11:00 until 5:00pm at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.

Ronnie was born January 22, 1958 and transitioned July 16, 2024 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Tx.

Mr. Mathis was 66 years old.
