Robert Smith, Sr.

Robert’s Life Story 
Robert was born September 12, 1941 to Ben and Frances Smith. He was #9 in the line of 11 children. Robert and his brother Wade was a mischievous duo, but their sister Rosie Lee kept a thumb on them and older sister Bertha kept them all in line. 
Robert's parents had him in church at Mt Ira Baptist Church at an early age. He never truly forgot that teaching. 
Robert was well known on the football field and off at Central High School where he graduated. 
All that faded when he met the love of his life, Delois Davis, in downtown Jefferson. Never looking back, the two were soon married. To this union came Robe (Angel) and Robert Jr. (Jr.) 
Robert worked hard to provide for his family through his work at Thiokol Army Ammunition Plant and Lone Star Steel. He was a great provider with many years of service. Along the way, he made time to be a loving husband, father, grandfather, Deacon, and example of what a good man looks like. 
Robert retired from Lone Steel in 2004 to help his wife, Delois, fight the hardest battle of her life. Hardly ever leaving her side, he was her rock to lean on. Robert’s later years were spent enjoying family and his house full of memories of Delois until his health wavered.  
God called Robert home from a job well done on October 23, 2022. 
There waiting for Robert was his wife Delois with their grandchildren Donte’ and Sidney, Robert’s mother, father, sisters, and brothers also. 
Left to cherish the many wonderful memories are his daughter Robye, and her husband Randy, his son, Robert Jr., and his wife Alisia, his grandchildren: Makenzie, Taylor, JaVonte’, Jamela and Evan, His great grand children Kaden, Jeremiah, and Londyn; his sister Brenda and brother in law Joe; his sister-in- law Jessie and jean; and host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 
 

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Smith, Sr., 81,of Jefferson, Texas, will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Kellyville Community Center in Jefferson, Texas under the direction of Lewis & Walker Funeral Home. There will be a public visitation at his home church, Mt. Ira Baptist Church, in Jefferson on Friday October 28, 2022.
Mr. Smith was born September 12, 1941 and transitioned October 23, 2022. 
Mr. Smith was 81 years old.
