Randall Kent “Randy” Soper
January 15, 2026
Randall Kent Soper, known to all as Randy, passed away on January 15, 2026. He lived life boldly and unapologetically large, leaving behind stories and laughter that will long be remembered by family, friends, and all who crossed his path.
Randy was born to Orwell J. Soper and Ona Alma Soper, both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of six brothers and was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Dennis Soper. He is survived by his brothers Orwell "Skip" Soper (Sherry), Carl “Bruce” Soper (Diane), Michael Soper (Zee), and Samuel Soper (Pat); two sons Christopher Soper (Jessica), and Joshua Soper (Natalie); and nine grandchildren; Caleb, Emma, Ava, Liam, Boston, Nathaniel, Lillian, Trinity, and Faith.
Randy grew up playing many sports, but wrestling held a special place in his heart. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin–Superior, where he wrestled at the collegiate level. Though his time there was brief, his competitive spirit and love of the sport stayed with him throughout his life.
Randy married Terry Christian of Butternut, and after short time, enlisted proudly in the United States Army, where after training, they moved to Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he worked as a Computer Technician and Instructor, supporting advanced armored systems, including the M1 Abrams. His service reflected both his technical aptitude and his natural ability to teach, lead, and speak.
Later, Randy relocated to Las Vegas, where he married Carol, with whom he shared many years before her passing. During this time, he worked for Home Depot, becoming deeply involved in the commercial electrical department. This role surprised many who knew him, as Randy was long seen as a people-and-business person rather than a mechanical or technical one. Yet he excelled, building strong professional relationships through knowledge, confidence, and, of course, conversation.
After retiring, Randy embraced a new chapter as an Uber driver, a role perfectly suited to his love of people and storytelling. Conversations with Randy were never quiet affairs. He had a gift for drawing people in, turning strangers into friends, and telling stories that were animated, humorous, and unforgettable, often stretched just enough to make them better than anyone else remembered, always with a grin.
In time, Randy met and married Leticia, and together they relocated to Texas, seeking a relaxing pace and climate better suited to the season of life they shared.
Randy was a true entrepreneur at heart, rarely afraid to start something new. Sometimes he found opportunity; sometimes he created it; and sometimes he simply believed in it long enough to make others believe too. He was never content standing still and always saw the world as a place full of possibility.
Randy lived fully, spoke freely, laughed loudly, and loved deeply. He left an impression wherever he went, and the stories told about him will no doubt continue to grow…just as he would have wanted.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
