Minister Dwight Harold Sasser

The Legacy

Minister Dwight Harold Sasser, Sr. was the fourth of five children, born on January 11, 1959, in Houston, Texas, to the late Howard A. Sasser Sr. and Ruby W. Sasser. He was raised with strong family values alongside his siblings: Howard Jr, Shelia, Sonia, and Phillip. Together, they shared the bond of family, creating memories and experiences that shaped Dwight throughout his life. He received his education in the Linden-Kildare Independent School District, graduating from Linden-Kildare High School in 1977.

Dwight was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Lois Sasser, with whom he shared 40 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 2022. Together, they built a loving home founded on faith, love, and family values. Their union was blessed with five children: Lee, Forrest (Chassity), Tracy, Dwight Jr. (Trishana), and Christopher Sasser (Kiara).

In God's perfect timing, Dwight found love again and married Barbara Curtis in 2025. Their marriage united two families into one, creating a beautiful, blended family. Through this union, Dwight lovingly embraced Barbara's children: Danielle, David, Emanuel, Britney, and Kenrick Curtis. He also cherished the memory of Eric, who preceded Dwight in death.

Family meant everything to Dwight. He found immense joy in being "Pawpaw" and treasured every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren: Dashaun "DJ" Goree, Messiah Sasser, Brooklyn Sasser, Hannah Hardy & Ah’Lani Hardy. Through his marriage to Barbara, he was also blessed to lovingly embrace her grandchildren, whom he welcomed as his own, making their beautiful, blended family even more complete. Whether sharing stories, offering words of wisdom, cheering them on, or simply enjoying their company, Dwight loved each of his grandchildren unconditionally. They brought immeasurable joy to his life, and he cherished every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.

Dwight faithfully dedicated 44 years of service to Jacob Stern & Sons as a welder in Houston, Texas, retiring in 2024. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence. During his years with the company, he formed many lasting friendships, including a special bond with his coworker and dear friend, Mack McDonald.

A faithful and devoted member of Gospel Way Missionary Baptist Church, Dwight worshiped and served there 38 yearsanswering God's call to ministry. Dwight was ordained and licensed to preach the Gospel under the leadership of his beloved pastor and dear friend, Pastor C.R. Williams, alongside Rev. C.L. Thomas. He faithfully served with humility, compassion, and a heart for God's people, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Dwight will forever be remembered as a devoted son, loving husband, cherished father, proud Pawpaw, caring brother, beloved brother-in-law, treasured uncle, faithful cousin, trusted friend, and dedicated servant of God. His life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, humility, compassion, and selfless service. The legacy he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know and love him.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dwight Harold Sasser, 67, of Houston, Texas.

Dwight transitioned peacefully at home on June 19, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
