Michael Jordan, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He was born in Marshall, Texas, to the late Moorehead and Irene C. Watts Jordan, and was the third of six children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Lucille Raines and Theresa Jordan.
Michael attended school in Linden, Texas, where he formed lifelong friendships and graduated with the Class of 1981. Shortly after graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army for four years. Upon returning home to East Texas, he began a long and steady career in trucking, dedicating more than 30 years as a truck driver. Through his work, he demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility, perseverance, and pride.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Barbara Tina Jordan; his children, Michael Jordan, Jr., LaKenndall (Karina) Jordan of Longview, Texas, Victoria Jordan of Longview, Texas, and Serria Jordan of El Paso, Texas; and his stepchildren, Michael and Alisha Trayler of Mt. Vernon, Texas, LaShedria Traylor and Tootie Traylor, both of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Byron McGill of Dallas, Texas.
He is also survived by his sisters, Janice Jordan of Lodi, Texas, and Jennifer Miles (Stevie) of Duncanville, Texas; his brother, Moorehead Jordan, Jr., of Jefferson, Texas; along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his memory forward.
Michael will be remembered for his strength, his dedication to his family, and the quiet but powerful way he showed love through his actions. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services for Michael Wayne Jordan, 63, of Mount Pleasant, Texas will be held at 1:00pm Friday, March 20, 2026, at Watts Chapel CME in Lodi, Texas and burial will follow at Whitaker Memorial Cemetery.
