Maymie Anderson

Mrs. Maymie Anderson was born on August 26, 1944 in Marion County to Ennis and Clara McAlister. She attended Central High School in Jefferson, Texas, graduating with the class of 1962. Mrs. Anderson earned her bachelor's degree from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, and her master's degree from East Texas State University-Commerce, where she also pursued doctoral studies..

Mrs. Anderson served as a dedicated teacher with the

Jefferson Independent School District for over 30 years. She was also a loyal member of the Blue Bonnet Garden Club. Mrs.

Anderson was a devout Christian with unwavering faith and a devoted member of Berean Baptist Church for many years.

Later in life, she answered the call to serve as an Evangelist.

Mrs. Anderson departed this life on Thursday January 1, 2026 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by parents Mr. & Mrs. Ennis McAlister Sr., one daughter, Stacy Anderson-Lovely, two brothers, Danny McAlister and Rodney McAlister, and two sisters, Diane Hatch and Karen McAlister.

Mrs. Anderson leaves to cherish her memories: her

husband Rudolphus Anderson Sr., three daughters Youlanda (John) Smith of Houston, Texas., Renee (Maurice) Gilbeaux of Dallas, Texas., Reba (Bobby) Books of Dallas, Texas., two sons Rudolphus (Tanya) Anderson of Dallas, Texas., Ira (Sandra) Anderson of Marshall, Texas., three brothers, Paul McAlister, of Lodi, Texas., Ennis McAlister Jr., of Virginia, Fred McAlister of Dallas, Texas., two sisfers-in-law Bobbie Jean Brent of Houston, Texas., Charlie McDonald of Jefferson, Texas., and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,

relatives, and friends.

Services for Maymie Anderson, 81, of Houston, Texas, will be 11:00am Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Jefferson Junior High School Auditorium with a repast following immediately afterwards inr the Junior High School cafeteria, then a procession to Lewis Cemetery in Elysian Fields, Texas. 
Family Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday,  January 16, 2026 at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born August 26, 1944 in Lodi, Texas and transitioned January 1, 2026 in Houston Texas surrounded by beloved family and friends. 
Maymie was 81 years old.
