Ms. Luevenia Butler was born on May 6, 1936 to Ben Coleman and Alice Faye Howard. Luevenia (Lue), joined St John Divine Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She loved going to church and Sunday School every Sunday. She faithfully served on the usher’s board well into her later years. She was a true beacon of light on her post. She was always smiling and welcoming friends to church. Lue was also a member of the church’s mission society. She was a truly faithful and dedicated worker who would do whatever was asked of her, with a smile.
Sis. Butler attended Perfection School in Kildare Texas. She married the late Bennie Lee Butler Sr in 1954. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for 25 years. Sis Butler loved to cook! She made a mean German Chocolate and coconut cake. She loved cooking for her grandkids and great grandkids. She couldn’t wait to cook a big pot of pinto beans and cornbread for her boys, as she called them (Rodney, Popeye and Romie). She couldn’t wait for them to come home, so she could cook for them. She enjoyed cooking for the entire family. Lue was happy, content, and extremely excited about going on another cruise with her family in March of this year, yet the Lord had other plans for her. Sis Butler was living with her son (Uncle Peanut) when the Lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her step-father(Curtis), mother(Alice), brother(Leon), 2 daughters(Bobbie and Jacklyn), two sons (Bennie and Kieth), and two grandsons (Dedrick and Keyshaun). Sis Butler’s legacy will continue with her son Osborn (Peanut) Howard, Daughters Wynda Thompson and Pamela Chambers.
