Life Reflections 

The Lord called "our Beloved" mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend Lillian "Cathy" Olds Brooks home to everlasting peace on January 06, 2022. Although a "Mama's" love was boundless towards us, God's love for her was far greater, thus His will was done.

Cathy Brooks was born November 04, 1956 in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas. The baby of five to the late Margaret Marie Olds and Ed Olds Jr.

Cathy graduated from Jefferson High School. To further her education Cathy attended Texas College where she graduated and received a Masters Degree in education. Cathy was known to some as "Mama Brooks". She was a very dedicated and devoted teacher. She loved what she did. Cathy began her teaching career in Malakoff School District where she taught for nine years. Once touching the lives of so many students there she went on to teach in Trinidad School District. She devoted eleven years of her life teaching many students life skills and how to love themselves. Cathy finished up her love for teaching at Hawkins School District where she taught for 20 years. What can I say Cathy "Mama Brooks" went out with a bang retiring after 40 years of devoting her time and love to students. Cathy was not only a teacher to some students, but also, a friend and a Mama to them.

Cathy accepted the Lord at an early age and worked hard to exhibit her faith by her lifestyle. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas. Cathy was also, a life long member of New Growth Baptist Church in Athens, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Margaret and Ed Olds Jr. Her brothers Edward, Alex and Robert Olds; and her sister Anne Watts.

Cathy spent her entire life being a devoted, loving, supportive mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, family member and teacher. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter LaMesha Brooks of Athens Texas; grandchildren Jaylen, JaNesha, Jayvian of Athens Texas; son Glenn Porter of Portland Oregon; grandchildren Trinity, Messiah, Harmony of Portland Oregon; very close sister in law Carolyn Olds of Dallas Texas; special cousins Juanita Farrow of Dallas Texas and Jeff Johnson of Seattle Washington; special daughter Michelle Williams; special sisters Emily "Rochelle" White of Athens Texas and Auttia Bryant of Malakoff Texas; and a number of special nieces and nephews; and a number of cousins; and a host of other family and friends. Her loving memory will continue to grow and flourish through her loved ones.

Services for Mrs. Lillian "Cathy" Olds Brooks, 65, of Athens, Texas will be 12:00pm January 22, 2022, at The Jefferson Junior High School Auditorium

Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Behind The Veil Church 2921 NW Loop 7, Athens, Texas 75751 and then from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, January 21,2022 at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home in Jefferson, Texas. 

Mrs. Brooks was born November 04, 1956 and transitioned January 06, 2022.

Cathy was 65 years old.
