Lando LaKeith Young, born on August 20, 1980, to Billy and Katherine Young in Jefferson, Texas, transitioned to be with the Lord on January 9, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, and a passion for education and sports.
Lando graduated from Jefferson High School in 1998 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University. He devoted 20 years to teaching and coaching at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas, shaping the lives of countless students and athletes.
A man of faith, Lando accepted Christ at a young age and carried that foundation throughout his life. He was known for his love of sports—whether playing, watching, or coaching—and cherished the time spent mentoring young minds both on and off the court.
Lando’s greatest joy came from being with his family and close friends. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Billy and Katherine Young; his brothers Kendrick Young and wife Betsy of Boston, Massachusetts, Dedric Young of Mobile, Alabama, and half-brother Michael Rawls of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by a host of beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lando’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and a love for community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
