Jannie Lee Johnson was born on March 16, 1940 in Oil City, Louisiana to Earl Rose, Sr., and Addie Mae Hill both of Jefferson, TX. Jannie grew up, began, and completed her school years in Jefferson, Texas.
Jannie met Will Johnson, Jr., in 1957 and they were married in 1959. Three children were born to their union, William Earl Johnson, Debra Lois Johnson, Doris Elaine Johnson-Myles.
Will Johnson preceded her in death in 1992.
Years later Jannie met Harry James Moore and they united in 2000 and later married in 2007 and remained so until she departed for her Heavenly home.
Early on in her adult life Jannie enjoyed working for the moving companies North American, United, and Mayflower packing houses.
Jannie was most well known for her efforts as a homemaker and mother and spent the majority of her years raising her family. Jannie was known as "Mom" or "Grandma" to more than just her own! In fact, many of you probably have used some variation of those titles for her in describing your relationship. Though, the best title that truly described her was simply Matriarch. She raised or helped raised her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. She provided a meal or a place to stay for many when in need or when life threw some of us a curve ball. For a lot of this family, Jannie was “The Glue”. With her spirit and God’s will, we will use the divine like love she showed us to continue that family bond in the future.
Even in times when Jannie found a desire to spend time outside the walls of her home, she would volunteer time to help others, such as helping on the Senior Citizen Van in Smithland and Jefferson, TX.
Jannie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jimmy and Andrew Rose; grandson, Undrea Johnson. Jannie leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Earl Rose, Jr.; and was blessed to have 3 kids, 6 grandkids, 25 great-grandkids, 3 great-great-grandkids, many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends as well as numerous “adopted” kids, grandkids and so forth!
As much as she will be missed, you don’t have to look far to see the legacy Jannie blessed us with!
