On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, James A. Young, loving father of three children passed away at the age of 69.
James was born on December 4, 1950 in Jefferson, Texas to Mary Alice "Muff" Young and Hilton Justice. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and later began a career in transportation.
One of James's biggest joy was being a good father, grandfather, and friend to many people. He was always there to lend a listening ear through any situation and taught his children the value of family. He worked at Boral Brick as a driver for over 10 years, but had to give up his career due to his health. He spent his time watching sports, especially football and basketball, and enjoying time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Alice Young and Hilton Justice; grandparents; and three uncles.
He is survived by his daughter Menika Young (Rico Chism) of Houston; two sons, Tristen Young of Dallas and Edward Bray (Larunda) of Dallas; grandchildren, Ollen and Kalex Flanagan, Ricca and Rico Chism "JR", Abrielle "Abby" and Shyloh Young, Decovin McHenry, Bernard Bray; Brittany, Xzavier, Terrance and Travis Jackson, and eleven great-grandchildren.
James also leaves behind his aunt, Gloria Young; uncles, Ernest Young of Hawaii, Billy and Roy Young of Jefferson; ex-wives, Cynthia Young and Hattie Washington; and a host of cousins.
Services for Mr. Young will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Lewis and Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Young will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
