James Earl Smith
“Cowboy”
James Earl graced the world with his presence on November 12, 1956, in Jefferson, Texas. He was born to the parentage of Will and Anna Sue Smith.
Along with his family, he attended Berean Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age. James Earl attended the Central Public School System and began working at an early age. His most valued and recognized occupation was landscaping, so much so, he was known as “the lawnmower man.”
James Earl unexpectedly passed away Saturday, September 30th, at the age of 66, due to a car accident. Although God brought him home, his larger-than-lifepersonality left a beacon of light for the entire community to remember him by.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Will and Anna Sue Smith; father, Lord Bogany; brothers, Eddie, Willie John and Ernest Ray Smith; sisters, Vera Mae Smith and Willie Jean Young.
Those left to cherish his memories and continue his legacy are his son, James Earl Carter and grandson, James Elijah Carter. He also gained a daughter-in-law, KayKay, and two additional grandchildren, Daixah and Xiyon. Three sisters, Louise Hines (Charles), Edna Mae and Betty Smith. One uncle, Otis Smith; a favorite niece, Marilyn; and favorite nephew, James. Along with a host of other relatives and friends that he loved dearly.
