Gloria Jean (Abercrombie) Martin

Gloria Martin was born on April 29, 1950, and passed away on July 29, 2021. She was the fifth of five children and spent her childhood in Waskom, Texas. At a young age, Gloria discovered a strong passion for serving God. Over the years, she served at several church organizations before finding a Church Home at Victory Drive Church of God and Christ. While at Victory, She served as Secretary of The District Women’s Department and other roles where she felt God moved her. She explored several career paths like Hotel Hospitality before becoming a homemaker to raise her children. On November 20, 1978, Gloria Dixon would marry Tommie Martin, a man of God and the love of her life. Gloria was a mother to five children, and Tommie loved and raised as his own. Gloria and Tommie would later have three kids of their own. Gloria relished her family and loved them devotedly. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and loved by many. She will be sincerely missed. Gloria is survived by her eight children. Alice Hendon (Derrick), Michael Rudd, Corey Rudd, Kelvin Rudd (Willishia), Sheletha Rudd Jackson, Youndell Rudd (Tina), Sherlet Nichols (James) and Tommie Martin, Jr (Shontisha); eleven grandchildren, Gwen, Wade, Kaelyn, Charnece, M’Les, Kayla, Tony, Kahlisa, Shayla, Markel, and Broderick; one great-grandchild Kairyn; three siblings Ulysess Williams, Dorothy Hooper, Bertha Haggerty and; a host of nieces, nephews, other living relatives, close friends co-workers, and beloved church family and neighbors.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gloria Jean Martin, 71, of Marshall, Texas will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11,00am, at Victory Drive Church of God In Christ, in Marshall, Texas under the direction of Lewis & Walker Funeral Home of Jefferson, Texas 

A public visitation will be in Jefferson at the Lewis & Walker Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 10:00am-5:00pm
