Funeral services for Gloria Marshall, 75, of Jefferson, Texas will be 12:00 noon Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Jefferson’s Community Center.
Gloria Jean Young Marshall was born December 29, 1947 in Jefferson, Texas to Robert Young Sr., and Signora Carter Young, both of Jefferson, Texas. Gloria grew up in Jefferson and attended St. Paul Methodist Church and Holiness Church of Christ at an early age. She later attended Berean Baptist Church raising her four children up in the church until her passing in 2023. She graduated from Central High School class of 1966 in Jefferson, TX. She attended Kilgore College.
Gloria was a remarkable woman, a very hard worker and an amazing, wonderful mother to her four children.
She worked at several restaurants to raise her family.
In the 1970’s she worked in custodial services at Marion County Hospital.
Gloria also worked in housekeeping and dietary departments at Magnolia nursing home for 17 years earning employee of the month over the years. She retired in 2014 after her health began to fail.
She occasionally took trips to Albequerque, New Mexico to visit her daughter, Monica, and she also flew to Hawaii to visit her brother Ernest.
Gloria loved people, loved gardening, cooking, doing housework, yard work and mostly caring for and raising her family but most of all she loved God. She was always in church in person or on the phone, Sunday school, Bible Study, and prayer meeting until her breathing slowed her down. Everyone loved Gloria and Gloria loved everyone. She has two beautiful daughters and two handsome sons.
Gloria Jean Young Marshall will be truly missed and always loved. She will be reconnected with her parents, Robert Young, Sr., and Signora Carter Young; brothers, Robert, Jr., Melvin, George, and Willie James; sisters, Mary Alice Hale and Imogene Young; grandson, Kendall Lynn Marshall; great-grandson, DeTravious Reed; and nephew, James Young.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memories her brothers, Roy (Glenda) of Jefferson, Ernest (Geri) of Hawaii, and Billy (Katherine) of Jefferson; two daughters, Monica of Marshall, and Jackie of Dallas; two sons, Timothy (Shulonda) of Jefferson, and Travis of Jefferson; eleven grandchildren, Roelandus, Christal, Kourtney, Timothy Jr., Keenan, Deon, Kqualon, Alexis, Makiya, Keona, and Imani; 23 great-grandchildren; special classmates, Joyce Smith, Phyllis Parker, Alva Rand, Juanita Bradford; host of nieces, nephews, co-workers, church members, and friends.
She will always be loved and in our hearts.
