George Cooper

George Cooper, at age 80 passed away on August 12, 2024, in Longview, Texas. Born on June 29, 1944, in Jefferson, Texas, George spent his early years in Oakland, California, before
returning to Jefferson, where he attended Central High School. George was also an avid sports enthusiast, having been an active participant on both the basketball and boxing teams during his early school years in California. George dedicated many years to the cabinet factory and pulpwood industry, where his hard work and dedication were well recognized. George went on to marry Joyce Bennett, and remained married for 27 years. With this union they had their one child Cheryl Cooper Sloan. George will
be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him!! He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Cheryl(Cedric) Sloan; his sister, Imogene Martin; his brother, Thomas Reliford; two grandchildren, Jamey(Nakeitha) Houston and Chasity(Rick) Henderson; and six great grandchildren, Jamey Houston Jr., Jay'lah Henderson, Jace Houston, Journi Houston, A'riele Houston, Rich Henderson, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Pap Cooper and Agnes "Steve" Reliford, as well as his siblings, Jessie Bea Barton, Bertha Harris, Helen Gage,
Willie Marie Morrow, and James Daniel Reliford.
Services for Mr. George Cooper will be 11:00am Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Berean Baptist Church and burial will follow afterwards at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Jefferson, Texas.

Mr. Cooper was born June 29, 1944 and transitioned August 12, 2024 in Longview Texas at Good Shepherd Hospital.

Mr. Cooper was 80 years old.
