Eddie Ray Parker, Sr. was born to the union of Herman and Bertha Parker on December 26, 1944 in Linden, Texas.
He grew up in Jefferson while attending grade school and becoming MVP of his football team. He earned the names "Juggie" and "Lightening" for his fast running skills. He went on to graduate from Central High School in 1962. He went on to Jarvis Christian College for two years where he met and married Loretta White. Shortly after marriage, he enlisted in the Army and served three years before coming home to settle down with his wife and family in Jefferson. He worked hard for 33 years before retiring.
His hobbies were fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta J. Parker; father, Herman Parker; two sons, Edgar R. Parker and Randell Parker; and granddaughter, ShaVonte' Williams.
Those left to cherish his memories are: sons, Eddie R. Parker, Jr. and Darrel Kelly; daughters, Carla Ervin (Alvin) and Shaniqua Ellis (Christopher); his mother, Bertha Parker; sister, Merlene Smith; special daughters, Christie Cole and Dedra Crowder; grandchildren, Andrea Parker, Jessica Jones, Alyson Parker, Kahlia Ervin, Quatashila Kelly, Shamis Ellis, D'Kota Kelly, Shamani Elllis, Mykel Parker, Rameon Green, Darrien Parker, Kolby Parker, D'Kalen Kelly, Elijah Rober; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Jefferson Community Center. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Jefferson, Texas. There will be a time of visitation from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019 at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.
