Cassandra Waites was born on December 21, 1964, to Eddie
Ray Mitchell and Alice Faye Waites Gillespie
At an early age, she joined Gethsemane United Methodist Church. She attended T.W. Brown and Kimball High School in Dallas, Texas.
Sandy loved to go to the casino and have you push her around. She loved her ivy plants and sitting on her porch talking mess loudly. She was truly the lite of the party. Deep in her heart, she loved her kids and her family. She enjoyed food Pickers, Sminckers (in her own words), soda water, Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull,Blue Cane, and music.
Cassandra was
preceded in death by her parents, her
grandparents, and a host of aunts and uncles.
She shared a special relationship with Herbert Hodges, and from that union two children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Chevette Waites of Dallas, Texas; her son, Hurlis Waites of Dallas, Texas; and her daughter-in-law, Jamesiah Hamilton Waites of Dallas, Texas.
She also leaves her godchildren, Tayvon Carr, Kiara Carr, and Scoop Carr; one brother, James Waites of Jetterson, Texas; her
grandchildren
Ashliegh Dumas,
Kendra Dumas,
Waites, Harmon Waites, and Nola Dorsey, all of Dallas, Texas
She is also
survived by her aunts, Mildred Malone, Helen
Waites, Estella Rand (Buford), and Perch of Karnack, Texas: her great-aunt, Pauline Green of Jefferson, Texas; her nieces.
Kirsten Maxie and Shameka Evans; her nephews, Christopher Evans, Deonta Waites, and Montez Robertson; and a host of family and friends.
She also leaves behind two special friends, Rachel Carr and Shirlene Whitaker.
andy will be remembered for her strong personality, he laughter, and the love she had for her family. She will truly be missed.
Services for Cassandra Waites, 61, of Jefferson, Texas will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Lewis & walker Funeral Home.
Cassandra was born December 24, 1964, in Dallas, Texas and she transitioned March 26, 2026, in Jefferson, Texas.
Cassandra Waites was 61 years old.
