Carrie Marie Allen, age 68, of Avinger, TX died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Carrie, the daughter of Zerida Melody Cox and Joseph Smith, was born in Harlingen, TX on February 6, 1957.
Prior to residing in Avinger, Carrie grew up in Flour Bluff, TX and later moved with her husband and daughters to Springdale AR. Carrie was the epitome of hard work and dedication. Carrie spent years working as a cook and later as a custodian before finally retiring. She loved to do various crafts and especially loved to spend her time crocheting in her spare time. She spent many hours crocheting blankets for each of her loved ones. Carrie put her whole self in everything that she did. Some would say she had a little spunk in her and knew how to speak her mind, but she was a true friend to the end. She loved spending time with her friends around the community over the years. Carrie was loved by many and heldmany titles. She was our mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nothing made her smile more than holding one of those grandbabies in her arms.
Carrie is survived by her daughter Melody (Russell) Butler of Lincoln AR, her mother Melody Schroat of Avinger, TX; twosisters, Zerida Pepp-Straub of Avinger, Tx and Bunzy(Michael) Chaplin of Ada Ok; two brothers Edward Smith of San Antonio, TX and Larry (Janie) Albin of Fort Worth, Tx; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her daughter, Zerida Knotts-Reed and her late husband Richard Allen.
While she will be missed here on earth by many family and friends, know that she is now smiling down among us as she has been reunited with her daughter in heaven.
A memorial will be held at a future time still TBD. The family wishes for you to share any memories of Carrie on the Lewis and Walker Funeral Home site.
