A Life Remembered
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, our Heavenly Father called Barbara Ann Graham Shepard Miller home at the age of 77. Mrs. Miller was born on July 2, 1948, to the late Robert L. Graham, Sr., and Pearlee Waites Graham Wilson in Marion County, Texas.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Gethsemane United Methodist Church. She has been a faithful servant through membership at Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church, St. Joseph Baptist Church and Mary Thomas Baptist Church.
Barbara attended Central High School in Jefferson, Texas class of 1966. She spent the seventies working as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Kansas City, Missouri. Barbara was a manager for Farmer Browns Chicken and Later Churches Chicken in Vivian, Louisiana. She spent over two decades as a devoted elderly caregiver for Jordan Health Services and Visiting Nurses Association. After retiring, Barbara dedicated over five years to the Caddo-Bossier Foster Grandparent Volunteer Program at the Roy Hopkins Headstart in Oil City, Louisiana and socializing at the SOC Ladies Club.
Barbara joined in to Holy Matrimony with the late Tom Tanner Shepard, Sr. Unto this union six children were born. She later married the late Willie B. Miller and moved to Oil City, Louisiana. Both preceded her in death.
In the early nineties, Barbara received a call to ministry from the Lord but didn't feel that the timing was right. Delayed but not denied, The Lord called her again and this time she was ready. Barbara became an ordained minister on January 24, 2026. She is a graduate of Good Shepherd Theological Seminary and Bible College in Rodessa, Louisiana. She received her Associate of Theology Degree in May of 2017 and a Master of Theology Degree in May of 2019.
Barbara shared a very special bond with her big brother Alonzo whom she affectionately called "Lil Brother” although she was the youngest. They weren’t just connected by blood; they were connected by heart with strings of love and care. If she called, he would come. He had her spoiled rotten, and she expected the same from everyone else.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert L. Graham and Pearlee Waites Graham- Wilson, stepfather; Woodrow Wilson, brothers; Robert L. Graham, Jr., and Worthy Ray Graham, and granddaughter; De’Anthony Sheppard.
She leaves to cherish her memory, six children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two sisters, three brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
