MALCOLM LAWRENCE RICE

Malcolm Lawrence Rice was born on September 22, 1953 (September the twenty-twice) in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the fourth child born to the late Mr. Edgar L. Rice III and Exeree Delois Rice. Malcolm stated two weeks before he passed away that he would always keep his hands in God's hands. 

Malcolm accepted Christ at an early age when he was a member of St. Peters Presbyterian Church, located on Truman Drive in Fort Worth. 

Malcolm received his elementary education at Rosedale Park Elementary School, which is now known as Marjorie M. Walton Elementary School. He went to junior high and high school at Dunbar High School in Fort Worth. He played football, ran track, and later joined the ROTC. He began his college career at the University of Texas at Arlington. He went on to join the Army and received an honorable discharge on February 29, 1980. 

Malcolm was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Rice Chafer. He leaves to mourn, his present wife of 37 years, Gwendolyn Rawls Rice of Jefferson. Malcolm was blessed to have fathered and mentored three children, Cassandra Freeman (Elmer) of Fort Worth, Jackie Rice (Blue) of Arkansas, and Felando Rawls (Christie) of Texarkana, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory, four sisters, Shelia High (Marcus) of New Braunfels, Texas, Gala Rice (Billy) of Jefferson,, Carlotta Embry of Fort Worth, Jill Johnson of Bryan, Texas; also, three brothers, Edgar L. Rice IV (Sarah) of Houston, Cedric Rice (Martha) of Houston, and Sean rice (Monique) of Fort Worth. He also leaves seven nieces; seven nephews; three grandchildren; four great -grandchildren; and a host of great friends. 

Services for Mr. Rice will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Jefferson Junior High School Auditorium. Burial will follow under the direction of Lewis and Walker Funeral Home.
